You are: The Spring Chicken

Illustration of the Spring Chicken character

When it comes to alcohol, you’ve made a lot of classic rookie mistakes in a short amount of time, like filling a Hydro Flask with vodka, or chasing liquor with Red Bull, or losing count of your Jello shots.

Unfortunately, inexperience won’t save you from the consequences of your actions. Now is the time to learn some party tricks that could save your life (or, at the very least, your reputation).

Your party strength

You dance like no one’s watching.

Use these party tricks to keep yourself and others safe.

  • Avoid drinking games.
  • Don’t drink too much too fast.
  • Don’t drink when you’re sick or on medication with a label warning not to drink alcohol.
  • Find a coping method that doesn’t involve drinking.
  • Don’t mix alcohol with stimulants (like energy drinks).
  • Avoid drinking in remote areas.
  • Don’t keep alcohol in your room if you’re under 21.
  • Let a nondrinker know your whereabouts.
  • Do the right thing if a friend passes out. Call 911 immediately, put them on their side to prevent choking on their own vomit, and monitor them closely until an ambulance arrives. If they stop breathing, perform CPR or find someone who knows how.
